Print Studio

Deep in the Sintra forest lies this magical property. A dreamy piece of land, with natural terraces, rock walls, and ponds. Originally just a few ruins nestled on the slope, this land has now been transformed into Atelier Citrina — an artist-run printmaking studio and publishing house.

The project began when LandingPad took over the renovation from another contractor in the early stage of the works. The vision? To create a sustainable, eco-friendly space that honoured the natural beauty of the land. Atelier Citrina now stands as a vibrant, powder-pink printmaking studio. The aim was to create a structure that embraced the landscape with large windows to let nature in. The unique structure, standing 8 metres high, features: • A timber frame with significant insulation, underfloor heating, and lime plaster walls - both inside and out - to allow the building to breathe naturally • Reclaimed wood roof beams, giving the house a sustainable and timeless touch • Handmade windows crafted by LandingPad for both design and cost efficiency, with heat- treated wood for resilience. Thanks to careful insulation choices and breathability of the walls, the studio is free from humidity issues despite the property’s moist surroundings.
