Internal walls were removed and reinforced to expand the living area, while two new bathrooms, a dedicated laundry, and a fully modernised kitchen were introduced. All electrical and plumbing systems were upgraded, and HVAC and underfloor heating were installed to meet contemporary comfort standards. The project navigated technical challenges, including adapting the sewage network for the additional bathrooms and repairing water infiltration from the upper floor.

Attention to detail guided every design decision. Original timber floors and interior doors were preserved, and travertine countertops and sinks were selected for their understated elegance. Custom carpentry, including a meticulously crafted kitchen, complements the soft, whitewashed floors – chosen after nine iterations to achieve the precise Scandinavian patina desired by the Swedish clients.

The apartment now balances functionality and refined simplicity: a light-filled, streamlined home where Scandinavian restraint and natural tones meet classical Portuguese details, creating a serene yet practical living environment.
