The layout was reconfigured into a single open-plan living and sleeping area, with a compact kitchen and bathroom optimised for function and flow. Large openings transformed what was once a dark interior into a bright, airy environment, drawing daylight deep into the space. Outside, a new retaining wall stabilises the slope, and the roof was completely rebuilt to align with the redesigned structure. 

Materials were selected for their tactile quality and authenticity: lime-plastered walls, reclaimed stone, locally sourced tiles, and timber elements ground the guest house in its Sintra setting. The finished project is a refined, texturally rich retreat that feels entirely at home within its hillside context.
