Banzão

Colares, Sintra

Project Overview

Banzão is an ongoing new-build construction project for a family villa in Colares. The 600 house is arranged across two floors and is accompanied by a separate guest annex. The architectural concept centres on generous internal space and a close relationship with the surrounding landscape. A double-height living room and kitchen form the heart of the house, establishing clear visual and physical connections between interior spaces and the outdoors.

Material and spatial decisions draw from the surrounding countryside. Terracotta tones inform the architectural language, grounding the new build within its rural context. Outdoor areas are treated as an extension of the living spaces, with a swimming pool, recreational zones, and extensive green areas planned as integral parts of the overall layout. Space has also been allocated for a tennis court or a football field.

As a new-build project of this scale, construction requires careful coordination and cost control. Managing timelines and budget remains a central consideration as works progress in delivering a well-planned and carefully detailed house. Once complete, the house will offer a calm, countryside-based family home that balances generous space, outdoor living, and contemporary residential standards.
