The kitchen is finished in bright green cabinetry with terrazzo surfaces, integrated Siemens and Bosch appliances and a custom oak dining table. Restored timber floors run throughout the apartment. Original details such as the wooden shutters and ceiling mouldings sit side-by-side with the more modern additions.

The master bathroom is finished in Lioz de Negrais Amarelo stone with Portuguese white tiles. The guest bathroom is finished in Lioz Coral Vermelha stone and incorporates a bath, shower, laundry and custom built-in storage. The spacious winter garden is finished in Matteo Brioni green textured plaster, with floor-to-ceiling windows looking into the greenery of the neighbouring gardens.

Before pricing the job, LandingPad surveyed the flat and issued a written condition report – setting out what could be corrected and what could not. The scope that came out of that exercise came in below the first estimate. Works began on the condition that no other contractor’s team would be on site alongside the LandingPad team, as completing a renovation someone else started is a distinct discipline. You inherit every decision without having made any of them, and learn what is behind a wall only when you open it.

Where a detail would not have lasted, we specified a better alternative. A new lifting pump was also fitted with a proper access hatch and acoustic isolation. Every electrical accessory was removed and refitted so the walls behind could be made good. Window frames were cleaned, adjusted, repaired and repainted throughout. The result is a colourful apartment that balances historic detail with modern comforts.
